A Knowles House Wedding Tale

DEE AND GARY GET MARRIED

We had an impromptu wedding at Knowles House recently. Key West is a very romantic place and Knowles House has hosted many bridal couples, so it isn't really that unusual for there to be newlyweds at the inn.

In the case of Dee & Gary, it just took a little extra nudge to get this long-committed couple to actually tie the knot. It happened this way. One night while relaxing in the Jacuzzi under the stars chatting and drinking wine with another couple, George & Mary Ann, the subject of weddings came up. Dee & Gary mentioned that they had been thinking about getting married in Key West, but just had not gotten around to actually arranging a ceremony.

Playing matchmakers, George and Mary Ann gave Dee & Gary the little push they needed to actually have a ceremony. George said that he knew an officiant, Joe, who was immediately telephoned and before anyone could think twice the ceremony was scheduled for the very next evening at  the Knowles House.
In Key West it is possible for out-of-state visitors to get a marriage license the same day as the wedding, so it was off to the Courthouse for a license in the morning followed by a few hours of shopping for the perfect wedding dress. Flowers were purchased at the local market and a gorgeous bridal bouquet constructed by our very talented guest Mary Ann.

In the evening, at sunset, the wedding took place up on our sundeck amidst a background of blooming bougainvilla.

Congratulations to Gary and Darlene! We look forward to seeing them for their anniversaries for years to come! Many thanks to George & Mary Ann, the catalysts who made it all happen. Experiences like this are what makes being an innkeeper so rewarding.
